Farhan Akhtar is a multi talented personality. He is an Indian film director, actor, screenplay writer, singer, lyricist and producer. Born on January 9 , 1974 to the talented screenwriter duo of Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, Farhan Akhtar grew up amidst movies and Bollywood.

He began his career as Assistant Director for the movie “Lamhe” in 1991. He went on to start his own production house named “Excel Entertainment” along with partner Ritesh Sidhwani. Farhan made his directorial debut with” Dil Chahta Hai” in 2001 and received huge accolade from critics for the movie.

His first directorial adventure got him the National Award. Farhan got a chance to work for Hollywood when he penned down the lyrics for “Bride & Prejudice” in 2004. He directed Don (a remake of 1978’s Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don) which went on to become a huge hit in 2006.

Farhan is also involved in social isssues and directed a short film “Positive” in 2007 to spread awareness about HIV AIDS.

In 2008 Farhan made his debut as an actor with the movie “Rock on” The movie won him his second national award for Best Feature Film as a producer. He again won the Best Supporting Actor award for the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Farhan is a great singer and has himself sung for his movies Rock On, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Shaadi ke side Effects. In 2011, Farhan directed the sequel to Don called Don 2. The movie was a super hit and surpassed all previous records for its gross earning.

In 2013, Farhan was praised for his natural acting when he portrayed the role of legendary athlete Milkha Singh in his movie “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”. The movie fetched him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
